Claudia has been a qualified social worker since December 1988 (B A Social Work, US). She has worked in various settings – Defence Force, Cape Town Child Welfare (child protection),an addiction clinic, St Michael’s child and youth care centre (residential care for abused teenage girls with a strong family preservation program) and was the peri-natal counsellor for pregnant women at Retreat Maternity Unit. She therefore has lots of clinical experience and also NPO management experience.

I also believe that everything that we are looking for, we will find deep within ourselves. My role as director is to lead Anex, as a children’s rights organization , strategically, with support from the Board, into a direction that fits with the global development of holistic services to families and children and the combating of exploitation of children.'

Doreen Gaura has been working in the humanitarian sector for a few years now, starting out on a volunteer basis as well as an intern at organizations such as Save the Children UK, Out LGBTI and Gender Links. She has a diploma in Marketing from the London Chamber of Commerce (LCCI) and she worked as the Marketing and Public Relations Manager for a clothing company in Zimbabwe before she made the shift to humanitarianism. Since joining the humanitarian and NGO sector, in addition to volunteering and interning, she worked as the Communications Officer at Gender Links before joining the Anex team as the Anti Child Labour Programme Coordinator in September, 2010. She is also a freelance writer whose articles have been published in journals, online publications as well as mainstream publications across the globe on subjects ranging from children’s rights to women and LGBTI rights.

Matipa Mwamuka joined Anex as an intern in 2007 and was appointed as the Counter trafficking project coordinator in 2008. Her role as the Counter Trafficking coordinator involves training and capacity building, awareness raising and managing the national human trafficking helpline. Matipa has a passion for women and children rights. She has a background in Organisational psychology and Labour Law.

Thanduxolo Williams is 23yrs of age and he has spent most of his life in Murraysburg, a small remote town. He became involved with Anex in 2006 when he participated in the first youth camp in Simons Town. “I have learnt a lot since Anex built a youth outreach centre here in town and I became the youth outreach worker in 2010”.
